President’s Message

Dear Members and Visitors,

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Hong Kong Inflammatory Bowel Disease Society (HKIBDS).

Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), which includes Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, has become an increasingly significant health challenge in Hong Kong and across Asia. Once considered uncommon in our region, the incidence of IBD has risen steadily over the past decade, affecting individuals at all stages of life and placing an escalating burden on patients, caregivers, and the healthcare system.

The HKIBDS is dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by IBD through education, research, and collaboration. Our mission is to enhance public awareness, promote early diagnosis, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care. Additionally, we aim to build a robust community of professionals and patients that shares knowledge, compassion, and a common goal of advancing IBD care in Hong Kong.

We invite you to explore this website, which serves as a hub for reliable information, professional updates, and community support. Together, let us work towards a future where every individual with IBD can lead a healthier and more fulfilling life.

Warm regards,

Dr. Michael Ka Shing Cheung
